Works with Bambu Lab P1S and P1P printers.
What you need, every setting you change and everything that changes on each printer, written down before you sign up.
SpoolSwift is not affiliated with or endorsed by Bambu Lab.
Supported printers
| Printer | Firmware | AMS | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bambu Lab P1S | 01.08.02.00 or newer | One AMS, used for colour matching | Supported |
| Bambu Lab P1P | 01.08.02.00 or newer | One AMS, used for colour matching | Supported |
Other printer models are not supported. Firmware SpoolSwift has not tested yet still works, but that printer starts jobs by hand only until we have tested the version.
Four things at the farm
A farm PC
Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit, on the same network as the printers and left switched on. Wired is best.
Outbound port 443
That PC needs to reach the internet on port 443. Nothing at the farm is opened to the internet.
A microSD card per printer
Jobs are sent to the printer's card over your network, so each printer needs one fitted.
A few minutes per printer
At each printer's screen, to change two settings. You can watch printer status before you change anything.
Your printers stay on your network.
The bridge talks to your printers on your own network and connects out to SpoolSwift. SpoolSwift never connects in.
At each printer
The setup checklist in SpoolSwift walks you through these, one printer at a time.
Check the firmware
Settings, Firmware. It must be 01.08.02.00 or newer. Update it there if it is older.
Fit a microSD card
Prints are sent to the card, and printing over your network needs it.
Remove it from Bambu Farm Manager
Only if you used it. Farm Manager and SpoolSwift cannot run the same printer.
Turn LAN Only Mode on
Settings, WLAN, LAN Only Mode.
Turn Developer Mode on
Same page, further down. Read the notice the printer shows, then turn it on.
Add it in SpoolSwift
Pick the printer from the ones your bridge hears, or add it by IP address, and type its access code. Your browser seals the code to your bridge.
Set its nozzle
0.2, 0.4 or 0.6 mm. A printer only takes jobs sliced for its nozzle.
What changes on each printer
LAN Only Mode and Developer Mode are printer settings, and they change what else that printer can do. This is the full list.
That printer no longer has
- The Bambu Handy app
- Cloud and remote printing through Bambu's cloud
- Bambu Farm Manager
- Bambu Lab's customer support for that mode
Still works
- Printing from Bambu Studio over your network
- The printer's own screen, including Print again, which SpoolSwift links to the same job
- Turning both settings off again, any time, at the printer
Details worth knowing before you start
Firmware updates
If an update turns a setting off, the printer's card says so and the checklist shows the step to redo. A version we have not tested yet runs by hand only, and never starts by itself.
Nozzles
Each printer has one nozzle size. After a swap, record the change in SpoolSwift before the printer takes its next job.
More than one site
Put a bridge at each site. Sites can share one queue, so any printer takes any job, or keep their own.
Fixed addresses help
If your router hands a printer a new IP address, update it in SpoolSwift. A DHCP reservation stops it happening.
Try it first
Pair a bridge and watch your printers' status before you change a single printer setting.
Sliced files
Upload files already sliced in Bambu Studio, saved as .gcode.3mf. Import your presets so the library knows your settings.
